Willie Lee Stamps, born on September 4, 1942, in Lorman, Mississippi, departed this life on January 29, 2024. He was a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend memory will be cherished by many.
Willie is survived by two daughters, Brenda Stamps of Vicksburg, MS, and Rosie Stamps (Darren) of Vicksburg, MS. He also leaves behind four sons: Leedell Stamps of Vicksburg, MS, Leroy Stamps of Vicksburg, MS, Mack Stamps of Port Gibson, MS, and Clifton Stamps (Cathryn) of Douglasville, GA. His legacy is further enriched by the presence of fourteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren who carry forward his spirit.
Willie was a devoted brother to three sisters: Jessie Townsend of Gulfport, MS, Mary Spann of Gulfport, MS, and Brybinne Stamps of Gulfport, MS. He is also survived by his brother, Oscar Stamps of Gulfport, MS. Alongside his family, he enjoyed a special friendship with Helen Armstrong of Port Gibson, MS, and was surrounded by a host of nieces, nephews, and other friends who will remember him fondly.
He was preceded in death by his father, Oscar Stamps, Sr., and mother, Julia Jackson Stamps, as well as his wife, Mozella Stamps. Willie is mourned by the memories of his four sisters, Georgia Graham, Essie Hicks, Beulah Carter, and Queen Ester Thomas, along with three brothers, Leon Stamps, Jimmy Stamps, and James Brason. He was also preceded by two daughters, Bobbie Stamps and Adrienne Stamps, one son, Melvin Hamlin, and his grandson, De’Marcus Claiborne.
A Funeral Service honoring Willie Lee Stamps will be held on February 10, 2024, at Waterloo M. B. Church, located at 1342 Alcorn Road Hwy 522 West, Lorman, MS 39096. The service is scheduled to begin at 11:00 AM and conclude at 12:00 PM, where family and friends will gather to celebrate his life and share their memories.
