Willie Polk, Jr.

Willie Polk, Jr., affectionately known as "Man," passed away on October 29, 2024 at the age of 76. A dedicated husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend Willie leaves behind a legacy of love and resilience. Born on March 10, 1948, Willie devoted over 40 years of his life to his career as a truck driver, earning respect and admiration within the community for his work ethic and commitment. His contributions to the field were marked by the countless miles he traveled and the relationships he built along the way.

Willie's memory will be cherished by many. He is survived by his beloved wife, Carolyn Brown Polk; five sons, Dennis (Shirley) Nichols of Jackson, Mississippi; Willie Tyrone Holden; Cedric Holt; Dewayne Holden, all of Vicksburg, Mississippi; and Willie Polk III of Atlanta, Georgia. He also leaves behind four daughters, Angela Hodge of Vicksburg, Mississippi; Cheryl (Willie) Parnell of Augusta, Georgia; Kimberly (Tony) P. Jefferson of Atlanta, Georgia; and Feleciel Holt of Vicksburg, Mississippi. In addition, he is survived by one stepdaughter, Gail Houston of Rowlett, Texas; one brother, Percy (Roberta) Polk of Jersey City, New Jersey; and three sisters, Sylvia McFarland of Las Vegas, Nevada; Herley (Riley) Summers; and Rosie Anna Polk of Spring, Texas. He is mourned by one uncle, Elijah (Uncle Joe) Banks of Columbus, Ohio; as well as 24 grandchildren; two special nephews, Dedrick Tyrone (Kim) Lane and Tyrone (Tabitha) Wallace; two sisters-in-law, Linda Moore of Detroit, MI, and Jackie Brown of Vicksburg, MS; one brother-in-law, John Brown of Vicksburg, MS; along with a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Willie was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Sr. and Lillie B. Polk; his sister, Pearlie Clark; and nephews, Wallace Polk, Volley Polk, and Enoch Clark.

Visitation will be held on November 8, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM at C J Williams Mortuary Center, located at 1625 Monroe Street, Vicksburg, Mississippi 39180. The funeral service will take place the following day, November 9, 2024, at 2:30 PM, also at C J Williams Mortuary Center.

Willie's life was one of service, love, and dedication, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those who knew him. He will be sorely missed but fondly remembered by family and friends alike.
