Willie B. Curry, Sr., a pillar of strength and honor, departed from this earthly realm on January 12, 2025, leaving behind a legacy woven into the fabric of his family and community. Born on February 5, 1961, Willie exemplified hard work and devotion throughout his life, earning respect and admiration from all who knew him.
Willie's journey was one of relentless pursuit; he held various positions at McKnight Farms, Brad Bradway Farming, and Paint Car Center before unlocking his own entrepreneurial spirit. In 1998, he established 61 Auto Shop, a venture he lovingly nurtured until his last days. His passion for service continued in 2002 when he opened Curry’s Grocery & Carwash, further solidifying his commitment to his community and fortifying his role as a local fixture.
Education was an essential part of Willie's life. He attended Warren Central High School where he not only focused on academics but also brought joy to his peers through his talent on the basketball court. Known for his unmistakable flair, Willie had an eye for painting vehicles, transforming them into unique masterpieces that gleamed under the sun. His artistic vision extended beyond mere aesthetics; it reflected his innovative spirit and desire to stand out, much like the man himself. Residing in the Kings Community, Willie poured his heart into everything he did, becoming a beacon of passion and commitment.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Betty Lenoir Curry, with whom he shared an extraordinary 47 years of marriage. Together, they embraced life’s challenges, raising their beloved children: Willie B. Curry Jr., Dionysus N. Lenoir Jackson (Fred), Constance R. Lenoir Wince (Derrick), Timekia S. Lenoir (Jessie), and Lakeesha A. Curry (Jabarie). In addition to his children, his legacy continues through his adoring grandchildren: KeiHarryiah Lenoir, Meichealiah Goodman, Frentress Jackson (Virgie), Tyrione Ross, Frentrevius Jackson, Ta’Myre Curry, Tri’Mhyiah Truly, Tavion Curry, Caiyden Truly, Tameria Curry, Derriyje Wince, Derrick Wince Jr., Anthony Mack Jr., Kenderrius Curry, Dior Wince, Ny’Arii Curry, and Demondre Jackson. The warmth of his spirit extends even further to his great-grandchildren: Jace Cage, Kaiden Goodman, Kyland Lockheart, Zion Goodman, and Frentress Jackson III.
