Themetrice Warnetta Rena Thomas Tyler, affectionately known as Rena, was born on March 15, 1969, and departed this life on March 22, 2025. A luminous spirit, Rena graced the world with her presence for fifty-six cherished years and leaves behind a rich tapestry of memories that will forever warm the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her.
Rena was a proud graduate of Provine High School, completing her education in 1986, and later pursued her studies at the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg. Her commitment to learning and personal growth was a testament to her character, and she carried this zeal for knowledge throughout her life.
Radiating joy, Rena was a delightful soul to be around. She fostered deep connections with her cousins and friends, sharing many cherished moments filled with laughter and camaraderie. In her leisure, she found joy in completing crossword puzzles and exploring new dining venues, always eager to create new memories and savor life's offerings.
In her personal life, Rena was the beloved mother of sons Ronnie and Ja'Marri, and daughters Sha’Metrice and Ja’Mirra. She was also a devoted grandmother to Ronnie Khalil Roberts, bringing joy and love into their lives. Her nurturing spirit extended further as she embraced her role as a godmother to Tiffany Moreno. Rena’s family roots ran deep, cherished by her mother, Lillie Thomas, and her brother, Kenyatta (Carmen) Poe, who were integral to her life.
Rena's legacy continues through her nieces and nephews—Karson Poe, Grayson Poe, Harrison Poe, and Joseph Poe—who will carry forth her loving memory in their hearts. She was united in love with her late husband, Bobby Tyler, and her father, Cecil Rouser, who preceded her in death.
A memorial service to celebrate the remarkable life of Rena will be held at a later date to allow family and friends to come together to honor her life and the indelible mark she left on all who knew her.
