Sammie Lee Morrison-Perkins, a cherished soul whose life radiated kindness and compassion, departed this world on October 31, 2024, at the age of 61. Born on August 15, 1963, Sammie Lee dedicated her professional life to the nursing vocation, serving as a Registered Nurse for an admirable 39 years. In her esteemed career, she not only imparted medical care but also offered emotional support and solace to countless individuals, thereby inspiring those around her with her kindheartedness, compassion, and unforgettable spirit.
Her personality was a beacon of warmth, lifting the hearts of everyone she encountered. Sammie Lee loved helping others, and her passion for service transcended the professional realm, enveloping her family and friends in her nurturing embrace. She leaves behind a legacy rich with the love she shared and the lives she touched.
Sammie Lee is survived by her devoted husband, Calvin Perkins, who stood by her side through life’s myriad journeys. Her two beloved daughters, Chelsea Perkins of Vicksburg, Mississippi, and Tressie Perry (Larry) of Long Island, New York, carry forward her compassionate spirit. She is also survived by three sisters—Tammy Hudson (James) of Pearl, Mississippi, Kathlon Grissom (Johnny) of Jackson, Mississippi, and Kellie Amos of McKenny, Texas—and one brother, Jeffrey Morrison of Vicksburg, Mississippi. The impact of her love is further echoed in the hearts of her nieces and nephews: Olivia Morrison, Tamara McGee, Logan Hudson, Harrison Morrison, Chandler Hudson, Randy Morrison, and Michael Bell.
Among the loved ones who have preceded her in this journey is her mother, Bessie Mae Amos, whose memory lives on through the family that Sammie Lee cherished deeply.
In remembrance of Sammie Lee, a visitation will be held on November 7, 2024, from 1:00 PM until 6:00 PM at C J Williams Mortuary Center, located at 1625 Monroe Street in Vicksburg, Mississippi. A graveside service will take place the following day, November 8, 2024, at 12:00 PM at Cedar Hill Cemetery, situated at 326 Lovers Lane in Vicksburg, Mississippi.
As we mourn the loss of this remarkable woman, let us celebrate the love, compassion, and unyielding spirit that defined her existence. Sammie Lee Morrison-Perkins will be forever remembered and cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
