Queen Esther Boyd, a beloved soul whose devotion to her family knew no bounds, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2025, at the age of 75. Born on January 3, 1950, Queen Esther was a nurturing presence in the lives of her loved ones, always putting their needs before her own and creating a home filled with warmth and love.
Her family will forever cherish her memories, as she leaves behind a loving husband, Richard Boyd II, and three wonderful children: two daughters, Velma (John) Robinson and Sherice Boyd, both of Hermanville, MS, and one son, Richard James Boyd III, also of Hermanville, MS. Queen Esther's love extended to her stepdaughter, Ebony Boyd, who was part of the life she so lovingly crafted.
A sister to many, she is survived by her three sisters—Shirley Watts from Louisiana, Laura Thomas from Fayette, MS, and Tanya (Steven) Wilson from Port Gibson, MS. Additionally, she is mourned by five brothers: Aaron Lee (Willie Mae) Johnson of Texas, Willie (Lucy) Johnson from Port Gibson, MS, Calvin Johnson of Chicago, IL, Michael Johnson of Hermanville, MS, and Johnny Banks of Port Gibson, MS. Her legacy of love and nurturing is also embraced by two aunts, Ethel Allen of Hermanville, MS, and Dorothy Blue of Detroit, MI, two uncles, Jeffery (Mary) Jenkins of Hermanville, MS, and Preston (Arlean) Allison of Chicago, IL, and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and loving friends.
Cookie, as she affectionately known, was an active member of the First Christian Church in Hermanville, MS, where her spirit of community and devotion to faith shined brightly. The impact she made will last in the hearts of all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, the late Aaron and Maxine Johnson, and her brother, Samuel Johnson. A long-standing pillar in her family and a source of guidance to many, she leaves an indelible mark in the lives she touched.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate her life and legacy through a series of services held in her honor.
