Patrick Henry Jefferson, a cherished son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on December 19, 2022 leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication, and quiet strength. Born on February 23, 1979, Patrick was known to many as a gentle soul, whose calm demeanor and kind spirit touched the lives of everyone he encountered.
Patrick’s early education began at South Park Elementary School, culminating in his graduation from Vicksburg High School in 1997. With a heart full of ambition, he enlisted in the Marines, where he proudly completed his basic training and served his first tour in Japan. Unfortunately, due to serious illness, Patrick was honorably discharged, but this setback never dimmed his desire for adventure. Following his military service, he pursued a passion for trade, attending welding school, earning his welding license, and working at Pascagoula Shipping. Eventually, Patrick found his calling as a truck driver, embarking on long coast-to-coast routes that allowed him to explore nearly every state in the Union. He found joy and solace in the open road, embracing the freedom that came with the journey.
Among his proudest achievements, Patrick was especially fond of the time he dedicated to the Boy Scouts of America, where he earned the esteemed rank of Eagle Scout in 1995. This accomplishment reflected his commitment, perseverance, and dedication—qualities that defined his character throughout his life.
Patrick’s memory and spirit will be carried on by his beloved family: his sister, Gwendolyn Corrothers Royal; brother, Kelvin Corrothers; great-aunts, Jonnie Jefferson Peaches and Rebecca Jefferson Clemons; aunt, Deloris Waters; uncle, Joseph Carter; special cousins, Sonya Clemons McIntosh (David) and Joseph Arnold Carter; and his cherished nieces and nephews, DaMarion Harris, Zari Royal, and Kinsley Maxey, all from Vicksburg, Mississippi. He is also remembered fondly by a host of relatives, including the Benard, Carter, Bracey, Clemons, Harris, Gross, Tolliver, and McIntosh families.
Patrick was preceded in death by his parents, Pat Henry Jefferson and Pinky Jean Bracey Jefferson Benard, and his paternal grandparents, Armetis Jefferson Jones and Cleveland Jones. He also mourned the loss of his maternal grandparents, Thelma Corrothers and Lester Corrothers, as well as several aunts and an uncle who will surely greet him in the embrace of eternity.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on January 8, 2023, at St. Paul M B Church in Vicksburg, Mississippi, where family and friends will gather to honor and remember this quiet, gentle man who lived his life with grace and love. While the world may feel a little dimmer without Patrick's light, his legacy will shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew him.
