Mary Anna Jones

Mary Anna Jones, a beloved figure known for her unwavering kindness and her vibrant spirit, departed this world on April 9, 2025, at the age of 66. Born on January 7, 1959, Mary lived to the fullest, leaving a profound impact on everyone fortunate enough to know her. She was not just a mother, sister, and friend; she was a shining light whose warmth radiated from her big, kind heart.

Mary embraced her role as an usher with dedication, always ready to lend a helping hand or offer a warm smile. Those who had the honor of knowing her would often remark, "To know her is to love her." Her legacy of love and kindness will forever be cherished by those who shared in her life’s journey.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory three sons: Rodney Jones of Cary, MS, Isaac (Femetrice) Jones of Blanton, MS, and Larry Norton of Blanton, MS. Additionally, she is survived by two daughters, Cotasha Jones of Vicksburg, MS, and Tineshia Jones of Jackson, MS. Mary also shared her life’s blessings with four sisters: Lena Mae Lewis of Rolling Fork, MS, Margaret Gaines of Sarasota, FL, Tina (Lee) Jones of Cary, MS, and Maggie Jones Knight of Cary, MS. Two brothers, Willie Jones of Sarasota, FL, and Charles Jones of Sarasota, FL, along with eight grandsons, seven granddaughters, and ten great-grandkids, will also carry her memory forward. A special acknowledgment goes to her favorite niece, Tyronise Weatherspoon, and a heartfelt thanks to her grandsons, Quenjairus Jones, Pernell Defrance, and O’Marion Jones, whose steadfast presence by her side daily offered comfort and love.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Ruth Shell Jones, who welcomed her into the world but have since passed. The pain of her loss is deepened by the absence of her daughter, Tanesha Jones, her sister, Ruby Lee Conway, and her brother, Otis Lee Sanders, Jr., all of whom now rest peacefully.

In remembrance of her remarkable life, a visitation will be held on April 18, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, located at 245 West Cypress St., Cary, MS. A Celebration of Life will take place the following day, April 19, 2025, at 2:00 PM, concluding at 3:30 PM, also at Mt. Zion Baptist Church.

Mary Anna Jones will be deeply missed, yet her spirit and the love she cultivated throughout her life will remain etched in the hearts of all she touched.
