Lonnie Johnson Maniel

Lonnie Johnson Maniel, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, away on February 25, 2024 at the age of 73. Born on November 2, 1950, Lonnie was known for his kind spirit and dedication to his family. His legacy is one of love and resilience, which will continue to shine through the lives he touched.

Lonnie is remembered fondly by those who survive him. He leaves behind his brother, Eddie Maniel of Vicksburg, Mississippi, as well as his aunt, Molly Howard. Lonnie was a proud father to nine children: Geraldine (Robert) Kent, Dorothy (Richard) Cooper, Lamar Lloyd of Alabama, Letha Lloyd (Asinia), Ive (Tommy) Huntley, Lonnie Lloyd (Sheniqua), Rina (Fredrick) Mitchell, Patrick Lloyd of Irving, Texas, and Justin Lloyd (Alicia) of Vicksburg, Mississippi. His family continued to grow with numerous grandchildren, including Erica and Nyeshia Cooper, La’Quita Lloyd, Chasitie Kent, Tabitha and Eric Jackson, Sha’Qulya Lloyd, Antonio and LaTonio Brown, Tommiecene, Tommy III, Treveon, and Tyrese Huntley, Reno and TaLarry Woods, Reginald Lloyd and Fredrick Valentine, Jr., Kayla Lewis of Texas, and Lamar Lloyd, Jr. (Lil Fella), LonDarrius Ragsdale, Malaysia, Lonnie, Jr., and Alayah Lloyd, all from Vicksburg, Mississippi. Lonnie's memory will also be cherished by twenty-one great-grandchildren, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who loved him dearly.

Preceding Lonnie in death were his lifelong partner, Shirley Jean Lloyd; his mother, Dorothy Mae Jones; his grandmother, Josephine Brown (Big); and his siblings, Barbara Jean Maniel (Tootsie), Letha Ann Maniel, and Charles Maniel.

The impact of Lonnie's life will forever be felt by those left behind. His proudest accomplishments echo in the hearts of his family and friends who will carry his memory forward.

Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during the funeral service scheduled for March 9, 2024, at C J Williams Mortuary Center in Vicksburg, Mississippi, starting at 11:00 AM. Lonnie's journey may have come to a close, but his spirit and legacy will continue to live on in the love shared by those who knew him.
