On December 3, 1943, in the small town of Tallula, Mississippi, Birthella
Hall received one of God’s greatest Blessings. She gave birth to her first
child, a bouncing baby boy, and she affectionately named him Leroy
Hall. Leroy would grow up and be educated in the Warren County
school system, graduating in 1962 from Rosa A. Temple High School.
He was a very proud member of the Esquire Men’s Club during his high
school years.
As a recent graduate, he was drafted into the United States Air Force. It
is during his assignment in Miami, Florida, that he received the blessing
of his one and only daughter, Lori Hall. Upon his military service
termination, he returned to his native home of Vicksburg, Mississippi.
He was employed by the State of Mississippi Corps of Engineers and
Monsour’s Restaurant, and he ended his employment career as a school
bus driver with the Vicksburg Warren County School District.
Somewhat of a loner, his favorite hobby was reading. Therefore, he was
a frequent, well-known visitor, of the library. He was a very rigid person
that very seldom swayed from his daily and weekly routines. There was
a specific day, time, and place for every aspect of his life.
Upon surrendering his life to Christ, Leroy became a dedicated and
faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church. Aside from the worship
experience and his personal relationship with the Lord, he especially
enjoyed when the children participated in church (ex. Easter and
Christmas programs). Attending church was among his many strict
“scheduled” tasks. Many times, he was the first to arrive for service.
Those grateful to be blessed with Leroy’s presence and left to mourn his
loss are: daughter, Lori Hall; grandson, Buford Redding; sister, Fannie
Dorsey (Henry); niece, Christine Hall; nephews, Joseph Hall, Terrance
Dorsey, and John Shelby; special cousins, Donald Ross and James
Anderson; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Johnny and Henry Hall.A Celebration of Life will be held for Leroy Hall on September 30, 2023, 11:00 AM at Calvary Baptist Church, 4995 Indiana Ave., Vicksburg, MS .
Visitation will be held at C J Williams Mortuary Services, 4310 Halls Ferry Road, Vicksburg, MS on September 29, 2023 from 1:00 - 6:00 PM with family present from 5:00 – 6:00 PM.
