Lawrence Charles Taylor

June 3, 1958 — April 2, 2025

Lawrence Charles Taylor, fondly known as LC, was born on June 3, 1958, and departed this world on April 2, 2025. His life unfolded like a rich tapestry woven with family, laughter, and a love for the great outdoors that was palpable to all who knew him.

Raised in Utica, Mississippi, LC attended Hinds County Agricultural High School, where the seeds of his great sense of humor and zest for life took root. He had an infectious laughter that brightened a room and a wittiness that could turn the mundane into extraordinary moments of joy. LC's personality was a delightful blend of affability and charisma, earning him friends wherever he went, and leaving them with cherished memories and laughter for a lifetime.

In his professional journey, LC embarked on a diverse career, lending his talents to J Tran, JPS Transit, Cooper Lighting, G&O, and Nissan, from which he retired in 2018. His dedication and hard work were evident in his commitment to excellence in all his endeavors. A proud veteran, he served in the Army from January 17, 1979, until his honorable discharge on January 24, 1983, showcasing his unwavering commitment to his country.

LC's passion for life extended beyond his work; he cherished the thrill of outdoor activities, finding solace and joy in fishing, horseback riding, and the excitement of horse racing. He was a fervent baseball fan and loved gathering with family and friends for raucous outside house parties, where laughter and love flowed as freely as the music that filled the air.

LC will always be remembered through the lives of those who cherished him. He leaves behind his loving father, Sharkey Fisher; his sons Surrentay Lyons and Jeremy Taylor; his beloved grandson Jabari Webb; and his brothers David Taylor, Kerry Taylor, Casey Fisher (Michele), and Sharkey Fisher (Toni). His baby sister, Jannifer Banks (Marshall), and a circle of sisters-in-law including Regina, Stephanie, and Alicia Mitchell, alongside brother-in-law Steven Mitchell, will forever hold his memory close. Additionally, he is mourned by uncles, aunts, and a host of nieces, nephews, loved ones, family, and friends, all of whom are touched by the warmth of his spirit.

LC is preceded in rest by his beloved wife, Charlotte Taylor, whose absence leaves an undeniable void; his dear mother Katie Mae Snow Fisher; and his brother Thomas “Jerry” Taylor. He is also joined in memory by his grandparents Eugene and Sarah (Neal) Snow, L.C. and Virlean Fisher; his mother and father-in-law Alice and Steve Mitchell; aunts Regina Snow, Vera Allen, Roberta Snow, and Eugenia Washington; uncles Excel Snow, Leroy Fisher, Eugene Snow Jr., Elijah Snow, and Edward Scott; as well as nephew Terrance Mitchell and David Taylor Jr. The echoes of love and shared stories bind him to Cousin Elijah King, whose presence is eternally felt.

LC's journey may have concluded, but his essence, enriched with humor, warmth, and love for nature, continues to thrive in the hearts he touched. In the symphony of life, he played his notes boldly, leaving behind melodies of joy and laughter that shall resonate in the memories of many. His visitation will be held on April 11, 2025, at C J Williams Mortuary Center in Vicksburg, MS, followed by a Celebration of Life at Greater Grove Street M. B. Church on April 12, 2025.
