Lawrence was born on June 4, 1959, in Vicksburg, Mississippi, to the late Otha “Tootsie” Smith and the late Virginia “Daught” Smith.
Of ten children, four siblings, Wanda Gail Smith, Janice Jones, Arnold Ray Smith, and Kathyrn Huell preceded him in death.
Lawrence was employed with Laquinta Inn as a maintenance technician until his health failed. Lawrence valued family and friends, and he enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family. On Thursday, March 30, 2023, at 8:36 a.m., at River Region Hospital after a lengthy illness, Lawrence’s work on Earth was finished. “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness.”
Lawrence leaves to treasure his precious memories: his two sons, Andrew Robinson and Lawrence Blackmore; three sisters, Debra Harris and Ethel Pearl Smith of Vicksburg, MS, and Patricia Anderson of Jackson, MS; two brothers, James Monroe Smith of Vicksburg, MS, and Charles Smith (Carol) of Murfreesboro, TN; one aunt, Ceatrice Smith of Vicksburg, MS; one brother-in-law, Marvin Jones of Vicksburg, MS; sister-in-law, Veronica Smith of Aurora, IL; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
