Larry Darnell Jackson, affectionately known as "Music Man," was born on December 24, 1955, and peacefully departed this life on December 9, 2022. Larry lived a life filled with passion and dedication, spending many years working as a truck. His love for music was well-known among his peers, earning him the memorable radio handle of Music Man, as he brought joy to his journeys by mixing and playing music in his trucks.
In addition to his career, Larry had fond interests that enriched his life. He enjoyed the thrill of riding motorcycles and had a great admiration for racing, both of which reflected his adventurous spirit and love for excitement.
Larry is survived by his beloved daughters, Emma Marie Miller, Markisha Montgomery, and Makayla Marie Drayton; his son, Treyvion Terrell Drayton; and his cherished sisters, Willie Mae Jackson-Davis, Shirley Ann Rose Griffin, Annie Mae Richmond, Claretha Butler, and Martha Lee Singleton. He also leaves behind four grandchildren who will carry his legacy forward. A special friend, Evette Wilson, also remains to honor his memory, alongside a host of family and friends who treasured him deeply.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Marie Tolliver Jackson and Alonzo Smith, as well as his brothers, Willie B. Jackson, Alonzo Jackson, Herman Jackson, and Andrew Jackson.
A graveside service was held on December 24, 2022, at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Vicksburg, Mississippi, a final resting place for a man whose life touched many. As we remember Larry Darnell Jackson, we celebrate his vibrant spirit, his love for music, and the enduring impact he had on those who knew him.
