Joice Ann Buchanan

Joice Ann Buchanan, born on August 6, 1953, peacefully passed away on August 23 2023. A woman of great spirit and love, Joice leaves behind a legacy rich with cherished memories and devoted relationships.

A Celebration of Life service will be held in her honor on September 2, 2023, at Greater Rose Hill Baptist Church, located at 683 Stenson Road, Vicksburg, MS, starting at 2:00 PM and concluding at 3:00 PM. Family and friends are invited to join together to remember and celebrate the remarkable life of Joice Ann Buchanan.

Joice was a loving mother to her two children, Manuel Leal Buchanan of Vicksburg and Olivia Bernice Welch (Edward) of Fort Campbell, TN. She also shared a special bond with her sister, Ruth Bland, and her brother, Manuel Bland III (Lilly), both of Vicksburg. Her unwavering love extended to her family of eight grandchildren: Tiaundra Brown, Cameron Young, Raven Buchanan, Carmen Young, Manuel Buchanan, Jr., Mikyran Buchanan, Acauri Buchanan, and Jordan Washington. Joice also embraced her role as a bonus mother to Craig Buchanan and Renee Bell (Kenneth), and she was cherished by a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Joice was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ernest Lee Buchanan. She also mourned the loss of her parents, Manuel and Olivia Bland, as well as her brothers, Huey and Aaron Curtis, and her sisters, Juton “Tiny” Miller and Bessie “Betty” James.

The memories of Joice Ann Buchanan will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved her. She was known for her warmth, kindness, and unwavering strength. As we gather to celebrate her life, we honor not just her passing but the rich tapestry of love she wove throughout her lifetime.
