Johnny Gibson

Johnnie "Bo" Gibson, born on January 29, 1965, transcended this world on January 11, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of love and kindness that will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew him. Growing up in the embrace of the Claiborne County Public School District, Bo laid the foundation of his life surrounded by laughter and camaraderie.

Bo devoted himself to hard work, beginning his career at Pickens Lumber Yard and later making his mark at Steuben Foods, where he remained until health concerns necessitated a change. Throughout his years, his heart remained as vibrant as his smile, always eager to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Those who crossed paths with him couldn't help but be drawn into his warm personality, often describing him affectionately as a "big, giant baby."

His greatest pride was undoubtedly his beloved son, Donte Johnnie Carlandos Gibson, of Phoenix, AZ. Donte's football games became Bo's cherished events, where he proudly donned the role of number one fan, basking in the joy of witnessing his son shine.

Bo leaves behind a loving family who will deeply miss him: his four brothers—Eugene “Sack” (Chiquita) Gibson of Lake Charles, LA, Willie Tyrone Gibson of Houston, TX, Alonzo Gibson of Port Gibson, MS, and Earnest T. Gibson of Savannah, GA. He is also survived by his four sisters: Mae “Kat” Gibson (Ernest) and Mary Lee Gibson, both of Port Gibson, Demetria L. Gibson of Jackson, MS, and Keysha Gibson of Vicksburg, MS. A legacy of love continues through his eight nieces, eight nephews, and two special nephews—DeAnthony Gibson of Buffalo, New York, and Derrell Gibson-Fells of Baton Rouge, LA. Additionally, he is survived by four uncles and eleven aunts, alongside a host of cousins, relatives, and countless friends from Buffalo, New York.

While his presence brings an irreplaceable void, he will be reunited with those who have departed before him: his parents, Johnnie L. Gibson, Jr. and Estella Shinall Gibson; maternal grandparents, Oliver and Ida Mae Shinall; paternal grandparents, Johnnie and Princey Gibson; as well as three brothers—David Lee, Otis James Gibson, and David Parker. Moreover, Bo will be rejoined in spirit with his very special nephew, Dontrell L. Gibson; uncle, Tommie L. Gibson; and cousin, A. C. Wells.

As we remember Johnnie "Bo" Gibson, we hold tightly to the memories of his infectious laughter, boundless generosity, and unwavering support for his loved ones. His heart of gold and bright smile will continue to shine through the memories he created with each person fortunate enough to know him.
