John L. Ross, a beloved figure in his community and a dedicated servant of God, passed away on January 31, 2024 at the age of 72. Born on March 1, 1951, John was known for his unwavering faith and commitment to his family and church, having accepted Christ at an early age. Throughout his life, he exemplified virtues of kindness, strength, and devotion, serving as a Deacon in his church and showcasing his love for others through his actions.
John's educational journey took him through McLaurin High School, where he likely laid the foundation for his respectful and compassionate outlook on life. He was a source of strength and inspiration to all who knew him, and his legacy of faith will continue to resonate in the hearts of many.
He leaves behind cherished memories with his sons, John Ross III and John Ross IV, who carry forward his love and wisdom. He is also survived by his sister, Ollie Harris; his brothers, Tommy C. Barcus and Jimmy Lee McClung; his grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will forever hold him dear.
John was preceded in death by his parents, John Ross Sr. and Mrs. Corine McClung, as well as his brothers, William Barcus and Otis Lee Ross, and his sisters, Corine Wheeler and Roberta Nason. Each of these relationships shaped his life and influenced the man he became.
A memorial service to honor John's remarkable life will be held on February 11, 2024, at C J Williams Mortuary Center in Vicksburg, Mississippi. The service will begin at 5:00 PM, concluding at 6:00 PM. Friends and family are invited to gather in remembrance of a man who touched many lives with his profound faith and loving spirit.
