Jerry Ann Chiplin

Mother Jerry Ann Chiplin, a beloved matriarch, educator, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 11, 2024, at the age of 76. Her indomitable spirit and caring heart will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Born on July 5, 1948, Jerry Ann was a beacon of light in the lives of many. She devoted herself to education, starting her journey by attending Rosa A. Temple High School before earning her Associate Degree in Early Education from Hinds Community College. Her career was marked by her roles as a former Assistant Teacher in the Vicksburg Warren School District, the Director of Eden Pointe Learning Center, and the Bethel Job Skill Center. Even after retiring from the VWSD, Jerry Ann continued to serve the community, working as a cab driver and dispatcher for Veteran Cab Company and J & B Cab Company. She was dedicated to helping others, leaving a lasting impact in every endeavor she undertook.

Jerry Ann was not only an accomplished professional; she cherished her role as a mother and grandmother above all else. She considered her twenty-one grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren to be her pride and joy. Each one held a special place in her heart, and she relished every moment spent with them, fostering a legacy of love and family.

In her spiritual life, Jerry Ann was committed to her faith and the church community. She was an  member of the Shirley Adams and the Gospel Singers and a founding member of the Glory Bound Gospel Singers. Her beautiful voice resonated within the halls of Cool Springs Baptist Church, where she sang with the Senior Choir and served on the Mother Board with unwavering dedication.

Mother Jerry Ann Chiplin leaves behind her sons, Larry Green of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Daryl Green (Pamela) of Tallulah, Louisiana, and Kamron Williams of Vicksburg, MS. Her daughters, Josie Green of Vicksburg, MS, Tangala Chiplin-Smith (Walter) of Rowlett, Texas, and her bonus daughter, Tonia Robinson, will carry her memory forward with love and devotion. She is also survived by her brothers, Bobby (Alice) Johnson of Edward, MS, and Sherman Williams of Vicksburg, MS, along with an extensive network of nieces, nephews, cousins, and close family friends, including Verdell Edwards of Vicksburg, MS, Lenernita Harris of Chicago, Illinois, and the Miller, Hurston, Graves,  Johnson,  Williams, Harris, Watson and Perkins families.
