In loving memory of Jennifer Marie Mayfield, who graced this world from February 2, 1962, until her untimely departure on August 24, 2024. Born in the vibrant city of St. Louis, Missouri, Jennifer's spirit was as dynamic and warm as the cultures that surrounded her throughout her life. A beloved mother, sister, caregiver, and cherished friend, she embodied love and compassion in all that she did.
Jennifer's journey through life led her to Vicksburg High School, where she was a proud member of the class of 1981. Her educational days not only honed her intellect but also nurtured the remarkable ability she had to express herself with clarity and sincerity—an ability that resonated deeply with all who were fortunate enough to know her.
In the tapestry of life, Jennifer’s threads are interwoven with memories of laughter, kindness, and unwavering support. As a mother, her profound love for her son, Terrance Mayfield, of Jackson, Mississippi, was evident in every gesture. The bond they shared was a testament to her nurturing spirit and steadfast dedication. She was also a guiding light for her goddaughter, Johnnjalynn Walker of Vicksburg, Mississippi, imparting wisdom and affection that will forever linger in hearts.
Jennifer was the heart of a vibrant family that spanned states, tying together six beloved sisters—Theresa Farrell of San Bernadino, California; Cherry Epps, Francine Mayfield, and Lisa Mayfield of Detroit, Michigan; Brenda Richardson of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and Joyce Mayfield of Vicksburg, Mississippi. In the same light, her four brothers—James H. Mayfield (Patricia), John R. Mayfield, and Kenneth E. Mayfield (Beverly) of Vicksburg, Mississippi, as well as Roosevelt Smith (LaTonya) of Chicago, Illinois—carried her legacy of camaraderie and cherished memories forward.
Jennifer is now reunited with her parents, the late James Mayfield, Jr. and Alice Pearl Dotson, along with her sisters, Janice Mayfield and Lois Davis, who welcomed her back to the embrace of eternity. Together, they shine brightly in the memories of those she left behind, illuminating the path for her family with the love and guidance that transcends time.
As friends and family gather to celebrate her life, they will hold a visitation on September 6, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM at C J Williams Mortuary Center in Vicksburg, Mississippi. This will be followed by her funeral service the next day, September 7, 2024, starting at 2:00 PM, ensuring that her legacy of compassion and warmth will resonate long after the last flicker of candlelight fades.
Jennifer Marie Mayfield was more than just an individual; she was a beacon of light whose heart touched countless lives. Her spirit will forever remain a cherished memory, echoing in the laughter of family gatherings, in the whispers of shared stories, and in the deep and abiding love of those who knew her best.
