James Thomas Edwards, born on February 14, 1933, in Chicago, Illinois, passed away peacefully on February 26, 2025, in Vicksburg, Mississippi. A dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, James touched the lives of many with his warm spirit and unwavering commitment to his family and community.

After dedicating an impressive 39 years of service, James retired from Wells & Lahatte, where he was widely recognized for his exceptional skill in fixing and installing appliances. His prowess in this area earned him a reputation as a dependable and talented tradesman, leaving a lasting mark on the city he served.

James was a devoted member of Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church, where he served faithfully as a senior deacon until his passing. His deep faith and commitment to his church community were evident in all aspects of his life and will be fondly remembered by those who knew him.

He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories captured in the hearts of his beloved family. James is survived by his loving wife, Dan Ethel Edwards; their five children, Marshall Edwards, James (Denise) Edwards, Jr., Michael (Theresa) Edwards, Sr., Beverly (Michael) Colston, and Mark Edwards, all residing in Vicksburg, MS. He also leaves behind eight grandchildren: James Edwards III (Mary), Timothy Lyons, Michael Edwards, Jr., Terrance Edwards, Trenisha Hobson (Darius), Mikayla Colston, Percy Edwards, and Michael Colston, Jr.; along with 11 great-grandchildren, Tamira, James IV, Jamariah, Jamarion, Jordan, Darius Jr., Chloey, Drew, Dre’, Dallas, and Dalton. He is also survived by one sister, Betty Moore of Chicago, IL, and a host of other family members and friends who will carry his memory forward.

James was preceded in death by his parents, the late Percy Edwards, Sr. and Gertrude Washington Edwards, as well as his granddaughter Anitra Fisher, great-granddaughter Alexis Fisher, and 13 of his siblings.

Visitation services will be held on March 7, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM at C J Williams Mortuary Center, located at 1625 Monroe Street, Vicksburg, MS. A Celebration of Life will take place the following day, March 8, 2025, starting at 2:00 PM, concluding at 3:15 PM, also at C J Williams Mortuary Center.

James Thomas Edwards will be deeply missed, but his spirit will continue to inspire all who knew and loved him.
