Howard Elmore, born on April 23, 1962, in Vicksburg, Mississippi, departed from this life on March 17, 2025. He leaves behind a legacy of fond memories and cherished moments for all who had the pleasure of knowing him. A true fan of the Washington Redskins, Howard's passion for sports was a defining feature of his vibrant personality.
Howard’s academic journey began at Cedars Warrenton Elementary and continued through Warren Central High School, where he built lifelong connections that he valued deeply. Over the years, he cultivated a close-knit circle of family and friends, all of whom will remember him for his warmth and unwavering spirit.
He is survived by his brothers: Rowan Elmore of Killeen, Texas; Paul Elmore of Dallas, Texas; Randy Elmore; Mose Hearron; Anthony Ellis; Richard Ellis, all of Vicksburg, Mississippi; and Kenneth Lyles of Dallas, Texas. Howard is also survived by his sisters: Joyce Johson; Marilyn Ellis of Vicksburg, Mississippi; and Yvonne Elmore of Dallas, Texas. In addition, he leaves behind his beloved aunt, Alma Moore of Vicksburg, Mississippi, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives who will carry forward his memory with love.
Howard joins those who preceded him in death, including his beloved mother, Bertha Elmore, his father, Mose Ellis, and his grandmother, Ethel “Net” Elmore.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Howard's life during visitation at C J Williams Mortuary Center in Vicksburg on March 21, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM. A Celebration of Life will be held the following day, March 22, 2025, at New Zion Baptist Church, beginning at 2:00 PM and concluding at 3:00 PM.
His legacy will live on in the hearts of those he touched, and he will be missed dearly by all who knew him.
