Herbert Lee Norfort, Jr.

Herbert Lee Norfort, Jr., born on February 17, 1990, in Vicksburg, Mississippi, passed away on April 19, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. He received his education through the Vicksburg Warren School District and was known for his compassionate spirit and unwavering dedication to his family.

Herbert is survived by a loving family that includes his son, Maury Jace Norfort, and his mother, Tasha Wells. He will be remembered fondly by his father, Herbert Lee Norfort, Sr., and his grandmother, Connie Wells. Additionally, he is survived by his fiancée, Amber Stringer, who brought joy and companionship to his life.

His family extends to six sisters: Melvina Wells Phillips (Ray), Melanie Wells, Tamikka Shelton, Marikka Shelton, Bentrisa Shelton, and Constance Shelton; as well as six brothers: Robert Lovings, Ben Shelton, Jr., Bryan Shelton, Cedrick Kelly, and Clay Tilden. Herbert is also survived by his stepfather, Ben Shelton, Sr., along with a host of relatives and friends who will remember him for his kindness and commitment to those he loved.

Herbert is preceded in death by his grandfather, Willie James Wells; his grandmother, Julia Bee Jones; and his aunt, Charlene Jones. These family members will await his arrival with open arms.

A funeral service to celebrate Herbert's life will be held on May 4, 2024, at C J Williams Mortuary Center, located at 1625 Monroe Street, Vicksburg, MS, 39180. The service will begin at 11:00 a.m. and conclude at 12:00 p.m., providing an opportunity for family and friends to gather in remembrance and honor of his impactful life.
