Hazzy Cross, born on June 29, 1959, in Vicksburg, Mississippi, entered into eternal rest on April 7, 2024. A cherished father, grandfather, and friend, Hazzy’s presence was a source of love and support to those fortunate enough to know him.
During professional life, Hazzy dedicated his efforts to Bryan Construction until illness led him to retire. He held a strong work ethic that mirrored his commitment to his family and friends, often putting their needs above his own. Hazzy graduated from Warren Central High School, laying the foundation for a life characterized by industry and generosity.
He was affectionately known by several nicknames, including "Buck Wild," "Jody Red," "Junior," "Hazz," and "Paw Paw," reflecting the fondness with which he was regarded by those close to him. Hazzy had a passion for nature; his interests included fishing, cutting wood, riding horses, and celebrating life with loved ones. His ability to find joy in simple pleasures made him a beloved fixture in his community.
Hazzy leaves to cherish his memory his beloved daughters, Lenatra Gray, Tressa Cross, and Tenita Cross; his son, Kevin Cross; and six grandchildren, Lekedra Gray, Dave Gray III, Tr’mara Cross, Tenizia Cross, Talia Hunter, and Kavion Dulaney. Additionally, he is remembered by a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends who will carry his legacy forward.
He was preceded in death by his father, Hazzy Cross, Sr.; his mother, Lenora Calvin Cross; his wife, Trina Eastman Cross; and his beloved brother, Hazzy Bingham. His family and friends take comfort in knowing that he has left an indelible mark on their lives through his unwavering love and support.
Funeral services will be held on April 20, 2024, at C J Williams Mortuary Center, located at 1625 Monroe Street, Vicksburg, Mississippi, 39180. The service will begin at 11:00 AM and conclude at 12:00 PM.
Hazzy Cross's spirit will continue to inspire those who knew and loved him, and he will be deeply missed.
