Emma Williams, affectionately known as "Lil Emma," was born on December 28, 1928, in Vicksburg, Mississippi. She peacefully departed this life on August 27, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and unwavering dedication to her family and community.
Emma’s journey through life was marked by deep faith and commitment to worship. Even when she was no longer able to attend church in person, she continued to nurture her spirituality at home, singing, praying, and receiving holy communion. Her faith was a cornerstone of her identity and inspired those around her.
Emma's proudest accomplishments include her years of devoted service on the Mother Board, the Women Auxiliary, and the Mt. Pilgrim Sunday School, where she made lasting impressions on countless individuals through her guidance and generosity of spirit.
She leaves to cherish her memories her three daughters, Gracie (John Henry) Daniel, Priscilla Williams, and Ida W. Jones, all of Vicksburg, MS; and four sons, Robert (Lucille) Williams, Leo Williams, Leon Williams, and Dave (Sandra) Williams. Emma is also remembered by her son-in-law, Charles E. Taylor, and her stepdaughter, Karolyn Brown of Jackson, MS.
Her legacy continues through her extensive family of twenty-two grandchildren, fifty-eight great-grandchildren, and twenty-five great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves a host of other relatives and friends who will deeply miss her warmth and presence, including the Tylers, Randle, Johnsons, Sims, Walker, and Norforts.
Emma was preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Emma Williams, her daughter Lola Taylor, her son John E. Williams, her special friend Mr. Albert Parker, and all of her siblings except one, Ms. Ideaulia Williams of Chicago, IL.
Visitation services will be held at C J Williams Mortuary Center, located at 1625 Monroe Street, Vicksburg, MS 39180, on September 6, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM. A funeral service will follow on September 7, 2024, at Greater Grove Street M. B. Church, located at 2715 Alcorn Dr., Vicksburg, MS 39183, starting at 11:00 AM and concluding at 12:00 PM.
Emma Williams touched the lives of many and will be remembered for her kind heart, her dedication to family, and her unwavering faith. Her spirit will continue to guide her loved ones as they carry forward her legacy.
