Eleanor Ray Figgs was born on September 20, 1942, in
Memphis, Tennessee, to Ruby Ann Figgs and earnest Jesse
Figgs.
Eleanor was affectionately called by her middle name, “Ray.”
Ray gave her life to the Lord at a young age, and she always
had great faith.
Ray was the third child of five siblings, sisters, Beverly Jean,
Dorothy Ann, and Janice, and brother, Gerald Charles Figgs.
Ray married her childhood sweetheart, Leroy Coffee, Jr., and
had five children, Dwayne, Leroy Coffee, the third Brian,
David, and JoElle. Ray enjoyed being a homemaker. She loved
decorating, gardening, cooking, and spending time with her
family. Her hobbies were writing songs and short stories.
Eleanor Ray was preceded in death by her husbands, Leroy
Coffee, Jr., James Calvin Walls, and Author Mack; parents,
Ruby Ann Figgs and Earnest Jesse Figgs; son, Brian Everett
Coffee; granddaughter, Melissa Coffee; grandson, Joshua
Coffee; great-grandson, Micah Coffee, Jr.; and sisters, Beverly
Jean Santos and Dorothy Ann Traywick Minor.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her children, Dwayne,
Leroy, David, and JoElle; sister, Janice Byas; brother, Gerald
Charles Figgs; and a host of nephews, nieces, grandchildren,
great-grandchildren, other family, and friends.
