Derrick LaShon Chiplin

Derrick LaShon Chiplin, a beloved son, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 2 2024, in the town where he was born, Vicksburg Mississippi. Born on December 20, 1973, Derrick's life was a vibrant tapestry woven with the love of family and the warmth of friendships that spanned the years.

He was the cherished son of Jerry Ann Chiplin, and although he faced the world with strength, he also carried the weight of loss, having been preceded in death by his father, Thomas James Chiplin, Sr., and siblings Bobby A. Chiplin, Rickey Chiplin, Thomas James Chiplin, Jr., and Rosa Rankin. The aching absence of these dear ones touched his heart, yet they remain a part of his spirit through the memories they shared.

Derrick was blessed with an abundance of love from his family. He is survived by his adoring mother, Jerry Ann Chiplin, and a strong network of brothers: Larry Green of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Darrly Green (Pamela) of Tallulah, Louisiana; Dwayne (Wanda) Thomas; Charles Chiplin (Kaleen); and Calvin Bailey (Monique), who each carry forward his legacy in their hearts. The laughter and camaraderie of his sisters, including Josie Green, Denise Chiplin-Chambers, Dr. June Chiplin-Thomas (Willie), and Tangala Chiplin-Smith (Walter) of Rowlett, Texas, echo pleasantly in the corridors of cherished memories.

The memory of Derrick will be lovingly commemorated by countless loving relatives and friends, including uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins, who stood by him through thick and thin. They include the families of Miller, Williams, Harris, Graves, Watson, Johnson, Perkins, Bailey, and Hurston—each woven into his life's story and a testament to the love he fostered throughout his years.

Derrick's spirit will live on through the joys he imparted and the connections he fostered. A visitation will be held on July 13, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the C J Williams Mortuary Center in Vicksburg, with a funeral service following on July 14, 2024, at 2:00 PM. Those who knew him are invited to come together to celebrate a life rich in love and legacy, to share laughter and tears, and to honor a soul that will be profoundly missed but forever cherished in the hearts of those who loved him.

In the unfolding story of life, Derrick LaShon Chiplin was a vibrant chapter filled with love, resilience, and unforgettable memories. Though he has departed from this earthly realm, his light continues to shine in the lives he touched.
