Demetrious Claiborne

Demetrious Claiborne, born on August 21, 1957, in Claiborne County, Mississippi, and a dedicated carpenter by trade, passed away on February 25, 2025. He was a devoted family man who cherished spending time with his loved ones and fostered relationships that enriched the lives of all who knew him.

Demetrious was educated in the Claiborne County school system where he developed not only his academic skills but also his strong work ethic. His career as a carpenter showcased his craftsmanship and dedication to quality work. Beyond his professional pursuits, Demetrious enjoyed a variety of hobbies and interests, particularly fishing, listening to his favorite music, and working on his lawn mower, activities that brought him joy and relaxation.

His legacy continues through his six children, LaMetrisse Claiborne (Adrian Sr.), Demetriuse Claiborne, Jr. (LaTasha), Darius Claiborne (Kenette), Derrick Claiborne, and Shantrice Claiborne, all residing in Vicksburg, Mississippi, alongside DeBoria Claiborne of Jackson, MS. He is also survived by two beloved grandchildren, Adrian Freeman II and Kennedi Claiborne of Vicksburg, MS. With deep family ties, Demetrious leaves behind three siblings: his brother, Mr. Garlee Claiborne (Josie), and two sisters, Mrs. Helen Davis (William) and Ms. Nora (Newt) Lee Sayles. He is further survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and in-laws, all of whom will carry his memory forward.

Demetrious was preceded in death by his four brothers: Othniel Claiborne, Sr., Ukal Claiborne, Reverend Gideon Claiborne, and Mr. Timothy J. Claiborne, Jr. He was also mourned by the loss of his four sisters, Mrs. Jewel M. Dee, Deborah “Sally” Webb, Mrs. Willie Mae Hardges, and Mrs. Mary J. Williams. The absence of these family members remains a poignant reminder of the love they shared.
