Delphine Monroe-Buie

Delphine Monroe-Buie, a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love and kindness that touched all who knew her. Born on April 18, 1956, Delphine was a proud graduate of Port Gibson High School, class of 1974. Her determination and compassion led her to a 19-year career at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, where her dedication to the well-being of children made a lasting impact.

After retiring, Delphine embraced a new chapter in her life filled with warmth and joy. She found great happiness in spending time with her loved ones, treasuring every moment shared with family and friends. Her nurturing spirit and infectious laughter created an inviting atmosphere, ensuring that those around her felt seen and valued.

Delphine leaves to cherish her loving memories: her beloved son, Dante (Tena) Monroe of Vicksburg, MS;  devoted daughter, Yolanda (Ken) Monroe of Milwaukee, WI; alongside six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren who brought her immense joy. She is also survived by one brother, Leander Monroe, Jr. of Port Gibson, MS, and a host of nieces, nephews,  relatives, and friends whose lives were made brighter by her presence.

She is preceded in death by her dear mother, Hester Robinson-Monroe; her father, Leander Monroe, Sr.; as well as her brothers, Freddie Brandon and Riley Robinson; and her sister, Janet Robinson. Each of these family members held a special place in her heart, and their memories will forever be a part of her story.

Delphine's life was a testament to the power of love and connection. She will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to call her family or friend. As we gather to celebrate her life, we hold close the countless memories she created and the love she shared. A visitation will be held on January 25, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM at C J Williams Mortuary Center in Vicksburg, MS. Following this, a Celebration of Life will take place on January 26, 2025, starting at 2:00 PM. In this gathering, we will remember Delphine and honor the beautiful legacy she leaves behind.
