Deborah W. Jones, a remarkable woman who touched the lives of many, passed away on April 9, 2025, at the age of 68. Born on January 14, 1957, in New Orleans, Louisiana, Deborah dedicated her life to her family and career, building a successful path in banking and retail management. She possessed a heart full of love and a spirit full of life that shone brightly through every interaction.
Deborah's kitchen was a sanctuary for those fortunate enough to know her. It was a place of comfort, where anyone could stop by and be greeted with a warm smile and a delicious, home-cooked meal. Her culinary skills were only matched by her passion for cooking, which brought joy and togetherness to family and friends alike. Fishing was another of her greatest joys, allowing her moments of tranquility in nature's embrace.
Having received her education in the Orleans Parish School System, Deborah furthered her studies at the University of New Orleans. Her time there laid the foundation for her professional journey, as she went on to make significant contributions in her fields.
Her involvement in community and sisterhood was evident through her proud memberships in the Sisters of Empowerment Tea Group and the Medgar & Angela Scott Foundation Wisdom & Grace Club, where she embodied a life of purpose and fellowship. Her legacy will continue with those she impacted through her involvement.
Deborah leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband of 40 years, Robert Jones Sr., and her son, Darren (Mamzell) Jones of Woodstock, GA. She is also honored by her six bonus children: Arlo Jones, Ola (Adrian) Clark, Gifford Jones of Haymarket, VA, Robert Jones Jr. of Jackson, MS, Catina Jones, and Roderick Williams Sr. Deborah is survived by her siblings, Jerome (Pamela) Watson of McDonough, GA, and Betty (Mitchell) James of New Orleans, LA. Her radiant legacy lives on through her 24 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and her two cherished aunts, Mattie Watson of Rochester, NY, and Millie Watson of Jackson, MS. She is lovingly remembered by a host of cousins, friends, and extended family who were blessed by her strength, laughter, and unwavering love.
