Claudine Atlas

Claudine Atlas, a radiant soul whose life was a tapestry woven with love, joy, and resilience, passed away on January 22, 2025, at the age of 84. Born on May 13, 1940, Claudine filled the hearts of many with inspiration and affection, leaving an indelible mark on all who were fortunate enough to know her.

In the simple yet profound moments of life, Claudine truly shone. She reveled in the tranquility of afternoons spent fishing, lured by the peacefulness of nature and the comforting embrace of the water. Her culinary gifts brought the family together, as the aroma of her delicious meals wafted through the warmth of home, creating cherished memories wrapped in laughter and camaraderie. In her yard, she fostered connections with friends and loved ones, sharing lively conversations that were infused with her generous spirit.

Claudine's personality was defined by her unwavering dedication—a hard worker who approached every endeavor with a headstrong will and a heart full of devotion. She gave her best in all matters concerning her family, exemplifying the strength of a loving matriarch.

However, her journey was not without sorrow. Preceding her in death were her beloved daughters, Annie Lee Atlas Spencer and Claudia Brown; her father, Johnny Atlas; her mother, Rachel Atlas; brothers, A.D. Atlas and J.D. Atlas; her sister, Fannie Knight; granddaughter, Claudia Michelle Brown-Maniel; and grandson, Johnny Nathaniel Brown. These losses were felt deeply, but her spirit remained a guiding light for her family and friends.

Ms. Claudine Atlas was survived by: her devoted children, Johnny Nathaniel (Joann) Atlas of Vicksburg, MS, Mark Atlas of Atlanta, GA, Orlando Stevenson (Clara) Jones, Sr., of Vicksburg, MS, Myra Waudez (Walter) Harris, Sr., of Vicksburg, MS, and Mary Angela (Wardell) Turner of Vicksburg, MS; her brother, Dave Wright (Jimmy Doo) of Rolling Fork, MS; her sister, Flora Gray of Champaign, IL; loving grandchildren, Rebecca Rena (Tommy J.) Curtis, Jr., Kisha Kishan (Marvin) Petro, Walter Anthony (Latasha) Harris, Jr., Orlando Stevenson (Angelica) Jones, Jr., Mannie Lee Brown, Latoya (Devonzell) Turner-Morgan, Martha Ann Edmond, Freddie Spencer, Jr., Candace Nicole Spencer, Marcus Atlas and Shemikia (Calvin) Mitchell; and a host of loving great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other relatives and friends who were touched by her kindness, generosity, and warm spirit.
