REMEMBERING THE LIFE OF REMEMBERING THE LIFE OF
Arthur Redel Thompson was born to the late Aquilla and
Ezaion Thompson on August 20, 1972, in Tylertown, MS. He was the
fifth of the six children they had together. Arthur transitioned into
eternal life on Monday, July 24, 2023, at the University of Mississippi
Medical Center in Jackson, MS.
Arthur accepted Christ at an early age and became a Little Rock
Missionary Baptist Church member under the leadership of
Reverend B. A. Goff. Arthur continued to serve God at
various churches throughout Mississippi and Louisiana
using his musical talents. He began his musical ministry, playing the
piano in his pre-teen years under the guidance of Sister Mildred Rice.
His love for the music ministry continued to grow and develop
throughout his high school years. His passion grew
even more as he became a member of the
Alcorn State University Interfaith Gospel Choir.
Arthur remained faithful to his musical ministry playing for
numerous churches, choirs, soloists, and quartet groups.
Arthur graduated from West Marion High School in 1990. He went on
to further HIS education at Alcorn State University, where he
received his Bachelor’s degree in General Studies.
Arthur continued his educational career at BELHAVEN UNVERSITY,
working towards a Master’s degree in Education.
Arthur held numerous jobs in his lifetime; however, his passion was
teaching. He became a substitute teacher, and he worked with
several school districts. Arthur began his teaching career
with the McComb School District at
Denman Junior High in 2021 until his death.
Arthur was preceded in death by his parents, Aquilla and Ezaion
Thompson; two brothers, Don and James Dillon; two nephews, Cody
and Isiah Thompson; two great-nieces, Cedriuna Brent and Ja’Laya
Williams; and one great-nephew, Alexander Gary.
He leaves to cherish his memories:
his two sisters, Jenel (David) Smith of Foxworth, MS,
and Kaneshia (Delandoe) Watts of Columbia, MS;
four brothers, Cedric Thompson of Foxworth, MS,
Therion (Veronica) Magee, SR. of Foxworth, MS,
Vonzell (Gregorita)Thompson of Pueblo, CO,
and Richard (Mechelle) Thompson of Foxworth, MS;
one godson, Omarion Husband of Foxworth, MS;
one aunt, Mary Lee of Foxworth, MS;
two uncles, Virgil (Barbara) Thompson of New Orleans, LA,
and Lenzie (Bobbie)Alford of Foxworth, MS;
beloved friend/brother, C. J. Williams of Vicksburg, MS; and
a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
