Annie Mae Kidd Horton, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, was born on February 10, 1946, in Edwards, Mississippi. She was the cherished daughter of the late Ida Boyd Kidd and the late Elvis Kidd. Annie's warmth and compassion touched the lives of those around her, and her legacy to shine through her family.
She was preceded in death by her son Andrew Horton, as well as her brothers, Elvis Kidd, Jr. and Billie Kidd. Annie also reunited in spirit with her sisters, Rosie Lee Thompson, Willie Mae Alexander, Mary Reagon, and Lucille Coverson, and her beloved granddaughter, Tashiba Williams. The love they shared remains a vital part of Annie's enduring story.
From a young age, Annie embraced her faith, accepting Christ and joining Greater Grove Street M. B. Church. Throughout her life, she dedicated herself to her work, beginning at Vicksburg Convalescent Home and later spending many fulfilling years at Harrahs Casino (Horizon Casino) before retiring.
Annie's heart was filled with love for her family. She is survived by her children, Calvin Kidd Horton, Annie (Michael) Horton Sims, Cornelius (Nicole) Horton, and Ron Horton. Additionally, she leaves behind her loving sister, Verline Willis, along with 18 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren, all of whom carry her legacy forward.
Annie Mae Kidd Horton transitioned from this life on December 14, 2021, at the age of 75. Though she is missed deeply, her spirit lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Let us celebrate the beautiful life she lived, full of love, strength, and unwavering faith.
