Andrew Sykes Sr. was born January 10, 1954 to Columbus Sykes Sr. and Alice V. Sykes.
Andrew Sykes Sr. married his childhood sweetheart, Nancy Jean Johnson, on January 8, 1974 and to their union, four children were born. Andrew and Nancy were married for 49 years.
Andrew Sykes Sr. retired from the United States Army after twenty years of service as Sergeant First Class (E-7) 88 Mike Truck Master/Quartermaster. In addition to these accomplishments, Andrew Sykes Sr. received his Honorary Ph.D. of Theology in Religious Education from Richword Theological Institute located in Austin, Texas in May of 2021.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Columbus Sykes Sr. and Alice V. Sykes along with three siblings: Lorraine Wilkins, Columbus Sykes, Jr., and Arthur Ray Sykes.
Andrew Sykes, Sr. leaves behind the love of his life, Nancy Jean Johnson Sykes; four children, Nanshill Wilson (George) of Chester, Virginia; Andrew Sykes, Jr. of Conway, Arkansas; Adrian Sykes (Sonia) of Midland, Texas; and Alexander Sykes of Richmond, Virginia; a godchild- Judy Woods Carter; nine grandchildren, Terrill Sykes, Laurnae Sykes, Erika Armstrong, Trinity McVay, Drewannika, Adrian Sykes, Jr. (Laura), Alexander Sykes, Charlie Marie Sykes, and Christina Sykes; one great-grandchild- Autumn-Reign Armstrong and 5 siblings: Cleophas Sykes of Detroit, Michigan; Annie Mae Sykes of Colfax Louisiana; Terrace Sykes (Joyce) of Missouri City, Texas; James Ray Sykes of Detroit, Michigan; and Dorothy Young of Detroit, Michigan.
Andrew Sykes Sr. will remain dear in the hearts of his wife and children, god-daughter, grandchildren, and great-grandchild along with nieces, nephews, siblings, cousins, friends and a host of others.
Andrew Sykes, Sr. transitioned on April 5, 2023 at the age of 69.
