Alfonse Reese

Alfonse Reese, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, away on August 17, 2024 at the age of 73. Born on April 22, 1951, in Vicksburg, Mississippi, Alfonse's life was marked by his unwavering commitment to family, faith, and community.

Alfonse leaves to cherish his memories his wife,thel Reese of Vicksburg, Mississippi; son, Cedrick (Maggie) Reese of Europe; and daughter, Winter Michelle (Ronald) Lyons of Vicksburg, Mississippi. He is also survived by his sisters, Deborah “Janie” (Willie) Hardy of Tallulah, Louisiana, and Bertha Meeks of Detroit, Michigan. His legacy extends to three brothers: Alonzo “Riley” (Joann) Reese and Edison “Joe” Reese, both of Detroit, Michigan, and Ned (Regina) Reese of San Francisco, California. In addition, Alfonse cherished a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will remember him fondly.

A dedicated member of Porter’s Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, Alfonse found joy in singing as part of the church choir. 

Alfonse’s journey was also shaped by the love and guidance of his late parents, Wesley James and Effie Bohanna Reese. He was preceded in death by his sisters Wilma Reese and Ceatrice Smith, along with brothers Wesley Reese, Jr., and Raymond Reese.

Visitation services for Alfonse will be held on August 23, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM at C J Williams Mortuary Center, located at 1625 Monroe Street, Vicksburg, MS, 39180. The funeral service will be conducted on August 24, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Porter's Chapel M. B. Church, situated at 4375 Halls Ferry Road, Vicksburg, MS, 39180.

He will be deeply missed, yet his memory will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew him.
